What the hell is a Cult Film?

A movie is considered a cult film when it manages to gather a certain dedicated following. When several people like to watch a particular movie more than five times just to discover more underlying details, this movie could qualify as a cult movie.

Often cult films enjoy special screenings at film festivals or outdoor cinema’s where film aficionado’s gather to experience the movie together. A cult movie is not necessarily a critically acclaimed film. Some movies gain a cult following because they are so awful due to their low budgets or horrible actors.

Some examples of well known high quality cult films are Pulp Fiction, Fight Club, A Clockwork Orange and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. These movies are often referenced by in pop culture or in TV shows like The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers and Family Guy.
